What is new in EN14015:2018?

The prEN14015 was released in 2018. This new standard is expected to become definitive in 2020 for the industry when constructing new storage tanks. What has been added and changed in EN14015: 2018? What should you think about as a constructor or contractor? Questions that receive an answer in our practical one-day course EN14015. For all designers, builders, clients, licensing authorities and enforcers of steel storage tanks for the petroleum and chemical industry.

  • Modified design calculations for tank wall stability, "overturning" and "uplift" of tanks.
  • Additional calculations for wind suction over conical and dome-shaped fixed roofs.
  • Added theory on wind suction and the associated negative pressure in floating roof tanks.
  • New Annexes on the application of numerical calculation methods for the design of fixed and floating roofs.
  • The relationship between EN14015 and Eurocode 3 (EN 1993-4-2) and other Eurocodes.
  • New Annex on selection of tank type based on the True Vapor Pressure of the product.
  • Completely changed theory with regard to the influence of earthquakes on tanks (like tanks in Groningen).
  • New Annex on aluminum geodetic dome-shaped roofs.
  • Changed requirements for tolerances during construction and after the initial hydrostatic test.
  • Changed requirements for welding processes, welder certification and quality assessment of performed welds.
  • Application of (alternative) NDT techniques.

Design and maintenance of storage tanks according to PGS29

The PGS29 was designated as a BAT document in December 2017. Do you want to know more about what is involved in designing and maintaining storage tanks and tank pits? For all designers and builders of steel storage tanks for the petroleum and chemical industry.

The course is aimed at people involved in the construction, inspection, maintenance, operation and supervision of storage tanks.

  • Lessons learned as a result of the ‘Buncefield incident’.

Tankoperator

As a tank operator you are expected to report to the tank owner any changes in the condition of the tanks. So you have to know well how to operate the tanks. Requirements for this are laid down in the EEMUA 159 and PGS 29. What do these guideline require of you? What are you paying attention to? How do you report in the right way? For all tank operators and other interested people who are involved in the operation of storage tanks.

As an employee who deals with storage tanks you want more knowledge about permits, standards and guidelines. This knowledge college brings you all the necessary basic knowledge of storage tanks, tank safety and inspections. For all people who work at a depot with storage tanks or a tank terminal.

EEMUA159 TankIntro, TankAssessor, TankInspector and TankStrategies

Through the EEMUA organisation we are the teacher of all these training courses in the field of maintenance of and on storage tanks. From our role as author of the EEMUA159, our teacher brings along a wealth of knowledge and experience. We also train the teachers who teach about this in different language areas and there is an annual return day in which we train all teachers.
